Dear Members,

Our parks, gardens, lawns, sports fields and golf courses offer space for play and relaxation and are essential for health. Maintaining them is important not only for aesthetic reasons, but for reasons of safety and security as well. These resources are an investment that should be protected as far as possible during the general shut-down of businesses due to COVID-19.

Routine maintenance to turfgrass can be handled safely for workers and many, such as golf courses, also allow the public to congregate for exercise with a minimum of social interaction.

We hope you can use this down time to rest your fields, as needed, and maintain good maintenance practices. The Alabama Turfgrass Association considers the health and safety of our members, their families and the people of Alabama of first importance. We urge everyone to follow the CDC guidelines and practice safe social distancing as they work.

We look forward to emerging from this unprecedented challenge as a strong and viable Association, state and nation and returning to our regular schedule soon.

Stay well,

Deven Peek President Alabama Turfgrass Association
